The Russian double mixed curling team, Anastasia Bryzgalova and Alexander Krushelnitsky, won bronze at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, having beaten the team from Norway 8 to 4.
We are especially pleased because these athletes come from St. Petersburg and are members of the Adamant curling team. They have already competed successfully in all major national and international championships. Now Anastasia and Alexander showed their high-level mastery at the XXIII Winter Olympic Games.
During the group tournament, our curling team competed confidently and won 4 matches out of 7. They also had a great beginning in the semifinals against Switzerland. Throughout the match, Anastasia and Alexander led the game, but the Swiss team wrestled the victory away in the eighth round, winning 9 to 8.
Summarizing the results of the game with the Swiss team, Anastasia and Alexander said: “The most important thing now is to forget about this match and get ready for the next match for the Olympic medal.” The St. Petersburg duo did not miss their chance and brought Russia its third Olympic medal.
Notably, their bronze medal is the first Olympic medal in the history of Russian curling.
The success of our athletes makes all of St. Petersburg proud. Congratulations, Anastasia and Alexander, and we are looking forward to welcoming our winners home!
