The Supported Living Center for severely disabled individuals opened on the last day of January in Razdolye Village of the Priozersky District. This unique project presents an alternative to living in large boarding houses. Construction of the facility was financed by private donors and socially responsible commercial enterprises, including Adamant Holding.
Adamant financed the purchase of high-quality paints, bathroom equipment and a special bath with an air-tight door, which will allow a person in a wheelchair to use it on their own. This is very important because supporting the maximum independent living of people with functional disabilities is one of the main principles of the new home. Perspectives staff say that the project was built from scratch since there were no ready-to-use solutions for residential facilities for people with severe disabilities in Russia.
The opening ceremony was attended by Anna Mityanina, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, who spoke about the special significance of this work: “Charity has no job description, and such projects can serve as an example of social work for everyone.”
